And so it begins.

Just so you know, this post isn't witty, punny, or full of intrigue. Just a day in the life of a mom ....

For the past three weeks Casey's Mom has been here
helping us (mostly me) with the transition to a four-member family. She did laundry, dishes, dinners, kept Addi happy and entertained (which is a HUGE job in and of itself), gave me time to rest ... she was super-hero Mom.
And she left last night.
We were all sad. I was scared to be completely honest. I just don't know that I can do a good job mothering two wee ones.
Happy Gwen

It was a nice bonding time for us.
She and I didn't really get a chance to know each other before Case and I were married, seeing as I had just returned from the mission and was crazy busy getting a job, readjusting, planning a wedding, etc . etc. etc. She's so nice - always serving people, and way funny. She has so many stories to tell. Whenever the girls were asleep she'd tell me all sorts of stories, about the toothless, cursing lady sewing a quilt in the church foyer, babysitting the neighbor's dog and having it die on her (and another incident where the dog had a stroke while she was watching it), what it was like mothering twin boys ... hilarious stories.
Unfortunatley she saw the worst of me - tired, half-dresses, and impatient with little-to-no energy to keep the house straight.

On the way home from the airport Case was following me in his work truck (he was already in Town for elevator school at UH, so we met him for dinner before the airport). Just before the "big dip" as we call it (in Kaneohe just south of the Ko'olau Movie Theatre) he calls me and says, "I think I'm about to be pulled over." Sure enough, a blue flashly light in the rearview mirror. He had run a red light trying to keep up with me (no, I wasn't speeding). The cop asked for license and registration and when he saw Laie on Case's license he said, "You a member?"

"Yep. We're in Hau'ula now - my wife just graduated."

"What ward you in there?""Don't know ...."

"You inactive?"

"No, we are still going to our student ward."

[talk story]

"Bra, if light is red when your tire crosses line, you runnin' it. Drive safe."

And that was it. Are all the cops here Mormon?

The Larsens were kind enough to trade us cars so that all 5 of us Jorgensen could ride in one vehicle. So, we were kind enough to wash it before returning it.

So today wasn't nearly as bad as I was afraid it might be *knock on wood*. We went on a walk, did laundry and dishes, nursed, took showers, colored, nursed, watched Care Bears, ate all meals, took the food out of the pantry and put it back in, nursed ... we all lived! The amazing blessing of today was around 11 am when I was thinking to myself, "Gwen's asleep. Addi will lay down in a half-hour or so, then Gwen will wake up. I really need a nap ... probably not happening." *knock knock knock*

My neighbor from down the street and around the corner was on the other side of the knocking. "Can Addi come play with us for a while? Thought you might need a break." Boy howdy were those words music to my ears! I really was in disbelief for a bit. Addi was happy to get out and play with another kid, and I was absolutely delighted to sneak in a little nap.

Thanks a ton Steph R. - HUGE lifesaver

Random pic ... So, have you ever noticed the mansion on Kam Hwy just south of Pounders? It's a pinkish color, stucco, HUGE. The Larsens work there and showed us around a bit ... this is what once was the grand entry with Koa doors and a double stair-case. The new owner decided a swimming pool would be so much cooler.

I presume life is going to continue on just as dandy as it was going before (with less beach-going). It's still intimidating to go to sleep at night. I never know how many times I'm going to be waking up, and I'm always a bit worried for the next day to start. Thank goodness the girls are so cute. I just love them so much, and that makes it all worth it.

You're doing great Stef! It's really one day at a time and you must be a magnet for LDS cops. Tell me how you do it because I've never been that lucky to get away without a ticket. I won't even tell you how many time I've tried.

I have to admit, Im kind of nervous for baby #2 to come. I was sort of an emotional wreck at first when I had Savannah...and lately her tantrums are killing me.....You will have to teach me any tricks you learn in the next couple months. ps...you always write entertaining things on your blog. I love it! Sometimes I think about trying to be funny, but then I realize I am more wierd than funny.
Did the cop call Casey "Bra" or was that a type-o??? just wondering. Maybe 'bra' is some hawaiian word that mormon cops use.

Hi Stefani! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. It's nice to finally meet you (at least in a cyber-sense). Your kids are adorable! We are going to be in Hawaii in May, but we're going to Maui. Kathy is watching the kiddos so Aaron and I can have a real honeymoon - 7 years late!
