Happy Anniversary to us (in a few days)!
As a surprise pre-anniversary date Case got us tickets to the Jason Mraz concert last night. I was pretty pumped. Right now you might be thinking, "Jason who?" So just in case, here he is with one of his better-known songs:

His phenomenally clear vocals were the best thing I've heard since my neighbor's morning shower! He quoted Bob Marley and Green Day, sang a jazz standard, and did a little operatic diddy in the middle of one of his many improvized vocal solos. Unfortuately we have no pics from the actual concert because cameras with removable lenses weren't allowed, and that's all we have ... silly dummies.

Why I like Jason Mraz (in case you want to tap into my little head): he's quite the artistic musician. As Casey put it, he seems like the type of guy that doesn't see a song as "finished" - but as something that always has room to grow and change. I love that he and his band, which he fondly called his "Super Band", would do improvised solos. That's awesome! It's so nice to hear the live song sounding different than the recorded version.

Afterwards we were planning on going to a nice dinner, but we weren't too hungry so 7-11 sufficed. We're so used to our Hau'ula 7-11 that we had forgotten all of the wonderful options available at a "city" 7-11. Holy Toronto FolkS! I think Reeses is trying to monopolize the candy world - big Reeses, whipped Reeses, crunchy Reeses, Reeses Pieces, of course the original Reeses, Reeses with dark chocolate ... I could keep going. Should I? I think not, or Reeses will monopolize the blogging world too.

And lest you worry - we bought this Japanese, chocolatey-swirled, sweet bread completely unassociated with Reeses (and also unavailable in Hau'ula).

Saturday we went into Town twice. Case got a call at 7:15 am to come fix the elevators on the Star of Honolulu, a day-cruise ship. So he did, and while he was fixing I took the girls and went shopping ... for diapers, wipes, and soy milk **Woo Hoo! I was pretty amazed with myself, if I may say so and still be considered modest. I shopped alone at both WalMart and Sam's Club with the girls and it actually went ok. I carried Gwen in the awesome sling Melissa made me, and Addi actually sat in the buggy without fussing. I even loaded up two boxes of diapers, two boxes of soy milk, a box of wipes, etc. etc. all by myself. Go Stef!!
We got home around 1 ish and then at 2 the phone rings again for another elevator fix, so back to Town we went. The bummer was that Add and I were both sick - well, not a complete bummer because Addi basically slept the whole time. Sunday we were planning on blessing Gwen, but due to the family sickness we thought it wise to not attend church and spread the wealth, which made for quite the long day with sick and fussy Addi. I'm just glad Gwen's not getting it. That would be a huge bummer.

That was our weekend. How was yours?
