the eyes in the back of Moms' heads are their ears
do you think parenting would be more difficult as a blind person or a deaf person? i have a not-so-strong opinion, though i'll keep it to myself as to not sway the comments.
definitely blind. For me at least. I'm thinking with parenting I'd rather be able to see my children than hear them. hahahaha! No but really you would have to go on sound alone to know what they were doing and sometimes different sounds sound alike. You couldn't take them to the park that easily if you were blind or drive them to the doctor if they had an emergency. Wow. I've never really thought about it till now but I feel like I could go on and on about how I'd hate to be blind. So that's my answer! Now what's yours?
admittedly it was originally deaf, because if you're blind you can be in the next room and still hear what they're doing, and it seems that if you were deaf you'd always have to been in the same room as them. then Case and i talked about it and i realized all the many things you couldn't do if blind ... i.e. everything.
there was a blind family in the last ward i served in in the mission. parents were blind and child (teenager) was blind. they had us over for dinner one night and it was amazing seeing how capable they were - even simple things like knowing what foods to go shopping for, taking the food out of the oven, they had a voice caller ID, the lights weren't on ... just a totally different life. yada yada yada
I think I would have a more difficult time if I were deaf. I seem to be blind to my children half the time anyway--since my eyes are glued to the computer screen. Hahaha! Really, I rely on my ears quite a bit when I am determining what my kids are up to.
Wow I think it would be hard to be deaf and blind. But I would say for me being blind would be more difficult.I would want to see my kids. I would want to see what they look like. I would just have to keep an eye on them more.
