15 July 2008

so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye

the Larsens are our oldest Hawaii friends (in time length, not age), and today, july 16th, they are leaving ... moving on to bigger and better things. Jordan got accepted to medical school in las vegas (yeah!) and rachele is planning on becoming a momma (no, this is not an announcement. duh.)

we and the Larsens, the Larsens and us ... what's the proper grammar on that one - anyways, we've been in the BYU-H 14th ward together since winter semester 2006. i guess that's not that long, but it seems like forever ago. addi wasn't even born yet.

manoa falls hike - summer 2006

halloween 2007

we started hanging out at the beginning of spring term 2006. there was a bonfire with a bunch of friends at hukilau. we admittedly had never been to hukilau (yes, we had been living in hawaii 4ish months by then and hadn't been to hukilau beach) and didn't know the parking lot was locked at night. so after said bonfire we freaked out because the car with which Casey must drive to work in a measely 6 or so hours was locked in the parking lot. Casey, Jordan, and another friend of ours, Glenn, pushed the telephone poles blocking the parking lot as close together as possible, which allowed just enough space for our little Saturn to squeeze out at the end. and so began our friendship.

Eden's 1st Birthday - spring 2008

jordan and i had cognition together at 7 am and rachele and i laughed hard and often together, mostly about how cool we were back in grade school and junior high. we had dinner parties, game nights, yummy cinnamon rolls, amazing games of guesstures ... ramen salad, mmmm.

how sad! that is the tough thing about living in hawaii- you are constantly getting left behind by friends who are (understandably) moving on with life. i am sure many of us will do the same someday, or maybe we already have and we get to live here forever. at any rate, it is hard to live this out time and time again but such is the nature of living in a college area. i am sorry your friends moved.

in other news, it was exciting to see me and amby in the background of one of those photos. :)

I love your Halloween costume 2007. Were you pregnant with a bun in the oven and Casey was the baker? That is hilarious! Okay I have only told Kurt this but Rachele, looks SO much like my cousin Alicia. I'm going to have to scan a picture of her and send it to you Stef because they look like they could be sisters! On another note, I'm sorry they're leaving. It really is no fun to have friends move away. Thank goodness for modern technology that helps us to keep in touch better than a letter that wouldn't get sent in the mail.

Stef we love you guys too!! We're going to miss you guys and your awesome children so much. We've had a lot of fun times together. You're such a good friend to me, I think you're an awesome mom and I hope to be like you one day, and I love that we can talk about anything together. We'll definitely keep in touch and I am already looking forward to our future visits with each other.
- By the way can you email me the picture of Jordan & I looking up. Thanks Stef- Happy B-day and see you tonight!

Its so sad that everyone has to move on. We miss you all so much. We'll see how long the Larsen's can stay away from Hawaii this time. Just kidding. Its hard leaving Hawaii though. Nate and I left for a year and then came back. We missed it too much.
