last friday i was talking to ang, i woman i admire and whose advice i take to the bank, and she said that when she took her daughter off the bottle she just did it. and her daughter was a bottle addict too. ang said that she took away the bottle and just told her daughter, "nope. we don't use those any more." and that was that. i had so many questions - did she still go to sleep ok? how did you calm her down? what about the bottle as comfort? etc. etc. etc. i was quite dubious about the whole thing, and kind of thought to myself, "oh, that just wouldn't work for addi. she's so addicted. she's gonna take a bottle with her on her first date."
nevertheless, i decided this week was the week. monday i let addi have a normal bottle day and told her we were going to start using sippee cups and water bottles and glasses more. tuesday was a partial bottle day, she only got 3: wake-up bottle, nap-time bottle, bed-time bottle. today: none. none at all. and she was only fussy about it once. only once! and bed-time wasn't even a struggle. we said prayers, tucked her in, gave kisses, then heard nothing but silence. (we were expecting tyrading, door pounding, tear-flowing breakdown)
so thanks ang. it worked.

Rock on! That is so awesome! I used to work for a pediatric dentist and believe it or not, sometimes it's the parents who won't part from the idea that their child doesn't need the bottle anymore. Props to the both of you!
Hey by the way, we almost came to HI this week. My mom and her husband did because tickets were {get this} only $181!!! I know. I'm afraid if I go back I won't ever return to the mainland! My husband said maybe he'll just do grad school there.
I Thank you for your kind words!! :)
I hope it continues to go well!!! and it not, you just have to tend to her through the rough nights and the sweats and the fevers like she is going through detox!!
May the force be with you!
good advice ang. im going to have to remember that for one day!
