because i have lots of free time

i've been shopping for stuff for the future hale ...

living room
this couch is on craigslist. we're waiting to hear if it's still available and if the price is negotiable. it's a sleeper sofa, AND you can lift the chaise cushion to reveal uber grand storage space!! yes, it's true! the entire chaise is storage space! but it's obviously not microfiber ... case, and me too i guess, really wanted microfiber for its stain resistant qualities, but i LOVE this couch, and scotch guard is a close 2nd to micrfiber, right?

for the living room rug i wanted a dark gray with an aqua accent in the middle ... but i'm not sure if the gray rug is too much with this couch. maybe black would be better?? color would be nice, but i change my mind too much for our rug to be a color ... unless we switched it out with other rugs from other rooms on a regular basis ... hmmm.

i already have TONS of this material to make curtains out of:
INGER Fabric
hmmm... more gray. i do REALLY like this material though, and already own it. so if i stick with this as curtains, plus that couch, a grey rug might really be overkill ...

OPINIONS/SUGGESTIONS?!?!

the colors i have in mind (not necessarily "together", but "at all") are kelly green, aforementioned aqua, red, and mustard yellow, and of course black, white, and gray. and here's photos of the living area to refresh your memory (sorry, don't know how to make them smaller):

our furniture will basically be arragned the same as theirs, but no armoire, just a flat screen on the wall, probably flanked by hanging, painted bookshelves.

oh, and in the last pic where that cute little red thing is between the windows, that's where casey's 6 foot fishtank is going. so it will cover part of the left and right windows. i'm planning on doing a large panel of curtain across the WHOLE wall, from left of left window to right of right window, and the space behind the fish tank will have a different curtain than the rest to offset. the entire window span will have blackout curtains as well because the sun beats on those windows ... all afternoon ... from like 2 o'clock on. H O T !  but the curtains that aren't behind the fishtank will be openable to let light in.

(you really don't have to read all this ... i'm just stuck inside. HA!)

so maybe i'll do the gray curtain i LOVE behind the fishtank and something else on either side. ?? and then use the gray again in the master bedroom ... hmmm, i like that idea.

and i love their accent bamboo "rug" and the storage ottomans as a "coffee table" and the nice booya! red chair. we might look for more pieces kinda like those ... i would like cool colored accents though, shades of green or blue or a cool yellow ...

the only other thing i've come across that i thought i HAD to have was this beauty for the master bedroom:
 ANDREA RUND Rug
it's nearly 8 ft. in diameter and just utterly gorgeous.
*sigh*

if you can't tell, i'm just a tad bit overly excited to start some serious home decorating here.

i love the couch! hope you get it. we will still have our big ugly hippo couch, but the color is ok even if it is all rubbed nasty and whatnot. it'll do for now.

my.home.decor.sucks. and i think that's so very exciting - dreaming about all the possibilities of how to make your new house yours. our place is so tiny and i have been feeling in the mood for change lately. but i realized to make our place feel bigger, we need less, smaller. and i have yet to paint. oh, i can't wait to see what you do with your house!!!

hmmm Steph R. perhaps, just perhaps you have swayed me to olive green. the more i think of the color scheme, the more it seems olive green fits more appropriately than kelly, grassy, john deere green ...

hmmm... maybe, just maybe.
