grapefruit party

grapefruit

i haven't always been a lover of grapefruit. to me, grapefruit was the bitter, oversized cousin of the delectable and much preferred orange. the bully of the citrus family.

our relationship started suddenly last summer, quite unexpectedly. a friend of mine was visiting from the mainland and was eating my grapefruits for me, and i thought, "ah, what the heck. i'll try one again. just to remember how nasty they are..." next thing you know, i'm eating not just the half i had sliced, but the whole fruit in it's ruby pink deliciousness.

add and gwen swiftly followed suit. they love 'em some grapefruit!

my loyalties are still with the orange family, with clementines taking the cake, but i have to admit the grapefruit sure does go a little farther. and is there any other way to eat a grapefruit rather than just as a grapefruit. like a grapefruit julius?

I can remember trying grapefruit when I was a kid, and I thought it tasted like hairspray! lol I haven't touched it since. :(?

the only true way to eat a grapefruit is by drowning it with sugar....that right there is eatable bliss! hmm, you've solved my dessert dilemma, onto the fridge!

As a kid I always ate them cut in half sprinkled with salt and loaded with honey....delicious!
Now I just eat them plain...less calories. But every now and then I indulge in a little honey. ;-)

Hey...that was me! I'm glad I reintroduced you to the wonderful grapefruit. I eat mine plain, but Del Monte does have a tasty grapefruit cup that I can take with me out for a snack. By the way...loved your Christmas card picture! I want to see you guys and your new house so bad!

I am strange, I'll be the first to admit but I love my grapefruit peeled and eat just like an orange. Must admit that sometimes they are not as ripe and sweet as others. The ruby red are definitly the best.
