May 28th I began weening Addi from the bottle. I figured she's nearly 2 years old, the majority of her liquid consumption should be coming from cups of some sort. Plus she learned how to use her bottle as a squirt gun and would bite through the nipples on a weekly basis. And so it began.

the beginning of a beautiful relationship
To say things were going well would be a lie. Addi hated life. Her waking words were "ba ba?" as if each new day brought a new hope that today wouldn't be like yesterday, filled with sippy cups and screaming. My neighbors probably thought I had taken up neglect and abuse as pass-times.
I was afraid to leave the house, never knowing when a "ba ba" tyrade would strike, but we needed eggs. So last Thursday (8 days into weening) I went to Foodland. Standing there in the back corner between the bacon and the beef, where they put "marked down" merchandise, I cowered from the scorn of onlookers wondering why my toddler was kicking me and screaming at the top of her lungs, "BA BA!!" But I was still persitent.

when Addi saw this picture as I was posting she said, "Mmm ... ba ba ... num num num."
Saturday Casey was nice enoug to let me sleep in. Addi woke up at 5:52. At 7:26 Casey came back in our room, "She fell asleep on the rug in the living room."
"What?" (Addi never takes spontaneous naps, and if she happens by one, it's not on the floor.)
"Yah, she's on her third bottle already. I guess she was just thirsty."
My horizontal body flew into sitting position, "Third bottle? You mean third sippy cup right?"
* silence *
So as of Saturday June 7, Addi rekindled her relationship with dear Ba Ba. She shakes at the sight of a sippy cup.

Maybe next time.

That's so funny, yet frustrating. Thanks for the advice on the couches. I agree with you!
I'm not laughing! That was Brody, and Kurt with his sippies before bed. When we weaned Brody we had to throw the bottles away so there was no way of him getting it...ahhh! :)
