We've been eating a lot of eggs and have decided to take our egg business to
Cackle Fresh because in our minds, their eggs are "better". The funny thing, though, is I don't really know a thing about eggs. What does it mean that I'm buying a
large grade A egg?
Why are some eggs brown and others white? And why can't we buy both colors in the same carton?
And did you know there are green eggs?

I remember in 6th grade I asked my mom why
strawberry seeds are on the outside. She always gave me the same answer to these types of questions, "Look it up when we get home and write me a paper on it." (no, I was not home-schooled - my mother just liked to give me assignments). That's the only 'paper' I remember because it's the paper I didn't write. So I still don't know why strawberry seeds are on the outside.
Until now... A strawberry is not actually a berry. It's part of the grape family. The seeds are actually individual one-seeded fruits (called achenes - in an achene, the single seed is enclosed by the ovary wall) which are embedded in the tissue of the strawberry. It is termed an "accessory fruit", like a pineapple or apple, meaning ... well, meaning I don't know that much about botany because alot of the jargon just went right over my head.Today, surprisingly, I ate my first mango. It was actually Addi's mango, and Matti picked it for Eden, so technically it was Eden's mango shared with Addi nibbled by me. Wow... amazing. Seriously, who needs a Snickers when you can have a mango, strawberries, and eggs (of course, with the eggs made into crepes).
And by the way ... does anyone know how to cook breadfruit?

I actually did wonder about the strawberry thing...thanks for clearing that up for me! I loove mangoes and strawberries. The less junk food you eat the more you forget what it tastes like. Hope your eating right is going well.
It took you THAT long to try mango???
Imagine ALL the mangoes you missed out on in life!!!
Aren't they SOO delicious??? I LOVE THEM!!!!
Do you know a good place to get them??
It's weird to think that strawberries have an ovary wall. And I eat it! I'm so glad your first mango experience was worth writing about. Now you have to try dry mango with ling hi mui.
I am a little disturbed that this was your first mango. But I will be your friend anyway.
I'm glad that you blog Stefani. That's all I have to say.
Thanks for the info on strawberries- pretty interesting. There's lots of ways to cook a breadfruit. First soak it in a bucket of water for a day or 2 to help it ripen (if you have the time). Next, wash it really well so none of the white sap is left on the outside. Next, peel it with a knife and cut it into four then take the centre and area out like you would with an apple. To actually cook it you can boil it, steam it, bake it or fry it just like a potato. A favourite of mine is to dip peices of it in a flour and spice batter then fry it. Or fry it then sprinkle it with garlic. Oh I miss breadfruit!
