King Kamehameha Day

Here in Hawaii every June 11th we celebrate King Kamehameha Day in memory of Hawaii's first king. His full name was Kalani Paiea Wohi o Kaleikini Keali`ikui Kamehameha o `Iolani i Kaiwikapu kaui Ka Liholiho Kunuiakea (insert pun here, such as "bet you can't say that 3 times fast"). He was the first king under which the islands of Hawai'i were united as one.
To celebrate King Kamehameha Day I hung out with my friend Anniken. We were psych majors together and haven't seen each other in ... well, way too long. We hiked the Hau'ula Loop, or at least as much of it as Addi would let us. (In the bottom two pics she's devastasted by the dirt on her hand.)

After the hike we just followed Addi around. She was running down the street and then made a sharp right heading straight for 7-11. Does she want candy? no. Gum? no. Soda? no. just the rain boots.

Then we walked back home and let Addi play in the water with Eden and Taylor. And here's the crazy part - Anni got stung by a wasp! Yep, it crawled in her shirt by the shoulder area and bada-bing bada-boom she had a stinger nigh unto her left collar bone. Do wasps lose their stingers when they sting you?

Anyways, thanks Anni for the fun, and things King Kamehameha for uniting Hawai'i' and putting an end to human sacrifice in your kingdom.
