Augie T

tonight I went to see Augie T, a local comedian, with Shanae and Noelle. we had quite low expectations. basically, we were going to leave happy if we just got laughs from how not funny he was (all based on our husbands' retorts). so we were pleasantly surprised when we were rolling with chuckles right from the get-go. it's really not worth the blog space and effort to try to re-tell any of his jokes/bits, but i would highly recommend seeing one of his shows (and isn't it convenient that one is coming up the first week of august ...)

us and him

seriously SO funny. he does observational humor, so, like .... okay okay, i'll attempt an example ... so his opening bit was about a recent trip to Vegas. he stepped off the plane and one of the first things he saw was a midget in high-water pants. take a moment. get it in your head: midget. high-waters.

then he thought, "those aren't pants they're shorts. it's not like they make size 32"x12" pants," then back, "no, they're high-waters". he then decided, "i'm going to do this as my opening bit for my show tonight."

so it's show time (still in Vegas i do believe) ... he's greeting people as they enter the venue, and who does he see meandering his way through the line of audience-goers: a midget. his mind is reeling, "do i still open with the midget bit??"

and he does.

of course said midget confronts him after the show, fists are flying (about shin-high fists). all over a pair of high-waters ... or were they shorts?

i promise it was funnier when he said it. promise.

Midget jokes are always funny aren't they? That was a funny memory. Yes I would still be your friend, but I could not marry you. Sorry!!! Here is my memory of you. I remember you playing a song that you wrote for your friend, "It's raining in my bedroom??...." Love that song! I'm sure that I have all the words wrong but I sing it in my head, I still remember the melody and your cool strumming pattern, and hitting the guitar. I wish you could sing me to sleep at night Stef! But then we would be married... and I can't marry you remember! Sigh...
