D.T.R. ... I knew not the meaning of this until I lived in Utah. A "D.T.R." (noun) is a type of conversation intended to "Define The Relationship". It usually follows a series of dates or unofficial "hang-outs" when one or both members of the "coupleship" want to know where the relationship stands. Are we "together"? Are we dating other people? etc. etc.
I have noticed lately that blogging introduces a new reason for a D.T.R. There are people that I feel I know quite well because I read their blog on a regular basis, and I oft find their comments on my blog, leading me to assume that perchance they wander upon my blog every now and again. But our face-to-face interaction is limited - maybe once or twice weekly at best. So when I see them I wonder, "Are we 'once weekly', acquaintance type friends, or are we 'tight' because of our blogging relationship?"
So to my blogging buddies from whom I am physically estranged, I must admit that sometimes I just don't know how to behave. So of course it can be a bit awkward for a moment. I recall all of these personal stories of you and your child(ren), but realize we haven't so much as exchanged a "hello" for quite some time.
Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?
And there's also the whole trying to avoid talking about (in conversation) what you wrote about in your blog, but that's for another post ....

I totally know what you mean. Its funny/weird.
haha, so true! i completely understand.
You are so funny! I love you more and more when I read your blog and yet... we only see each other when we both so happen to be at D and E building. So what I'm saying is, Stefani Joregenson would you like to take our relationship to the next level? kurtisnoelle@yahoo.com
OH I LOVED THIS POST!! ha ha ha HOW HILARIOUS! I love it. I just assume that anyone who reads my blog is my friend, and likewise. If I don't know you read my blog (stalker), then I don't care. But once you leave a comment, it's really sealed the deal. Best friends for life.
Ha, this is funny! There is a cousin of Trent's who I've never really gotten to know at all, but she reads my blog and comments. Well, when I saw her at a shower we didn't even talk, not more than "hello", it was awkward!! But that's how we were before this blogging world. Interesting...
Ha ha I was just talking to someone the other day and they were telling me things that I KNOW i didn't tell them. Then it clicked that they had been reading my blog. I think it is so funny/stalkerish but I love reading blogs and I would have to agree once you read about my life we are friends.
I think blogs are personal but oh so public. Things you wouldn't usually share with just anyone. But putting them on the internet means that you really are sharing it with anyone and everyone who chooses to look at it. I think thats what makes it awkward for me. It's stuff you probably wouldn't really be sharing with a stranger/acquaintance, but somehow you feel privileged enough to get to know that personal stuff even if you don't know them well. Thats my opinion...
that is so hillarious because its totally true! I feel like I have a connection with a lot of people because I always am up to date with their lives, but sometimes I feel totally awkward when we talk in real life. But then other times it makes me feel more comfortable because it's like were besties in the blog world who share everything!
The best is when you see somebody and recognize them from their blog, but they have no clue who you are...maybe thats just me! I feel like a psycho!
haha! i so understand. sometimes i see someone in a social gathering around laie or hauula and want to talk to them about a bunch of stuff on their blog- but then remind myself that they may not even know who i am. so awkward. :) i love it though! if people didnt want people to know/read all about them they wouldnt post - right?
I hope you don't mind that I'm commenting but I found your blog via Noelle's cuz of the recent post she just made and I must say I do agree with you. Now what do we do about people who blog stalk, you see them and they see you, do you say anything to them or you just kinda pass on by...just a thought. By the way, I really like reading your posts. (yup, i'm a blog stalker...) ;D
